True, tranquil lakeside luxury

Soak in West Virginia’s rugged mountain beauty, without sacrificing the comforts of home at Stonewall Resort.

This secluded retreat is the perfect blend of luxury and adventure— an upscale hideaway near peaceful water and untouched land, with a ton of outdoor activities to help you get out and explore it.

Adventure

Stonewall Resort is in a state park, along the shores of Stonewall Jackson Lake— a picturesque playground for kayaking, canoeing, stand-up paddleboarding and paddleboating. Or zip around on their newest boats: horizontal catamarans, which are basically fun-and-fast pontoon/jet ski hybrids.

Stonewall Jackson Lake is also known as one of the best bass fishing lakes in the eastern United States.

Fishing in West Virginia“This lake is not shaped like an oval,” said Chris Audia, Marketing Manager of Stonewall Resort. “It weaves into a lot of different coves. That creates some very awesome fishing opportunities.”

Trees still grow out of the farmland below the lake, which makes an excellent hiding places for fish. Bass, musky and crappie weave through the submerged plant life, which spreads out across 2,600 acres— so you won’t have any problems finding a spot to yourself.

While lake adventures are the centerpiece, you can also go hiking and biking at Stonewall. 5 trails cover more than 16 miles around the resort, some peaceful and flat, while others are wooded and rugged.

As if the water sports, fishing, hiking, and biking weren’t enough to keep you busy, Stonewall Resort is also home to an Arnold Palmer Signature Golf Course, which was named as one of “America’s Best Resort Courses” and “Best Courses You Can Play” by Golfweek for nearly a decade. King’s Course, a reference to Palmer himself, is a new program that lets you play tee boxes closer together. So if you’re on a time crunch, 18 holes that normally take 4-5 hours can be shortened to 2 ½ hours.

“It’s every Food Network show you have seen in one setting— competitions, seminars, chefs from all over the state, craft beer brewers and wine sommeliers,” Audia said.
