The West Virginia Department of Tourism promotes the state of West Virginia as a world-class, four-season travel and tourism destination through print, broadcast, digital and social media efforts. The West Virginia Department of Tourism is led by an appointed Department Secretary and advised by a 15-member Tourism Advisory Council.

General Information

How can I obtain a West Virginia highway map, vacation guide or other travel brochures?

To order a free West Virginia Vacation Guide, click here. Highway maps and other travel brochures can be ordered by calling 1-800-CALL-WVA (1-800-225-5982).

What is 1-800-CALL-WVA?

The West Virginia Department of Tourism operates the 1-800-CALL-WVA (1-800-225-5982) nationwide toll-free telephone system for West Virginia tourism information. Calls are answered five days a week by call center specialists who are knowledgeable about West Virginia’s travel and tourism industry. Hours of operation are: Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

What are Welcome Centers and where are they located?

There are seven total West Virginia Welcome Centers that provide information and brochures to visitors – all located just off major highways (I-64, I-68, I-77, I-79, I-81) as you enter West Virginia from our surrounding states. Welcome Centers are staffed 7 days a week from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. except for major holidays. The restrooms are open 24 hours/7 days a week. Location and contact information can be found here.

What is a business listing?

Business listings can be found throughout WVtourism.com. These listings give tourism partners a presence on our website with the ability to maintain and update a description for your own business. Information such as location, hours of operation, phone number, contact e-mail, website and social media can all be included in your listing.

How do I create and update a listing?

To create a listing for your business or on behalf of your company, visit this link to register for our Partner Portal. Once registered and approved for the Tourism extranet, you can log in to update and maintain your listing here.

Does the West Virginia Department of Tourism provide photography assistance?

Yes, the West Virginia Department of Tourism does provide photography assistance. If you are in need of previous photos taken for your business or new photography for a tourism-related project, please direct your requests via the Partner Portal under the ‘Requests’ section.

Does the West Virginia Department of Tourism share traveler-specific research and data?

Yes. Research and data is available on our Industry Information page as well as located inside our Partner Portal.

How do I advertise in the West Virginia Vacation Guide?

The West Virginia Department of Tourism administers the Cooperative Advertising Program for tourism industry partners across the state. This program allows tourism businesses to purchase advertising opportunities at a dollar-for-dollar match by the Department of Tourism. How does the West Virginia Department of Tourism work with travel writers?

The West Virginia Department of Tourism provides support to travel writers interested in producing stories that feature West Virginia as a travel and tourism destination. Assistance is provided in the form of press kits, press trips, photography, story ideas and itinerary suggestions. Does the Department of Tourism provide photography and b-roll?
