Northern Panhandle

When in Wheeling, be sure to stop into Brew Keepers for a taste of one of the 15 carefully crafted brews they have on tap in their beautiful taproom.

Brewstel: where hostel meets brewery. It’s the perfect base camp for outdoor lovers on their way to play in the massive Monongahela National Forest

The Wheeling Brewing Company was started in an effort to revitalize the downtown Wheeling area. With more than 20 local partnerships, the brewing company strives to work with local businesses and farmers to source food and beer creations. 

Mountaineer Country

Morgantown Brewing Company is West Virginia’s oldest operating brewery located on the historic waterfront in downtown Morgantown. Perfect for exotic beer lovers, they release new beers in cans every week or two with locally designed label art.

Nestled in the heart of Morgantown, Chestnut Brew Works is a small brewery named after the American Chestnut tree. They offer deliciously crafted brews made using science and the “Theory of Beertivity.”

Screech Owl Brewing is the first fully licensed brewery in Preston County. Visit for a true taste of small batch craft beer.

Veteran-owned and family- operated, High Ground Brewing Company in Terra Alta offers a unique array of brews at their pet-friendly tap room.

Hungry for something different? The Rambling Root in Fairmont offers thoughtfully crafted brews and food with Appalachian, German and Cajun flavors.

Short Story Brewing in Rivesville adopts a literary theme in the names of its beers. Beer flights are even served in repurposed card catalog drawers!

Eastern Panhandle

You would be remiss if you didn’t make a stop at Abolitionist Ale Works in historic Downtown Charles Town. This microbrewery, pub and restaurant also operates a “bed and beer” above the brewery that has 5 full condos available as vacation rentals.

Bavarian Brothers Brewing is the new state-of-the-art brewery located at the Bavarian Inn resort in Shepherdstown. Relax and enjoy the refreshing seasonal brews in the Brew Pub, Brew Lounge or outdoor Beer Garden.

Indulge in the healing waters that made this area famous at Berkeley Springs Brewing Company where they serve up a variety of ales made from the mineral water of the town’s namesake.

Potomac Highlands

Located in the heart of Appalachia in Elkins, Big Timber Brewing Company pays homage to the surrounding forests and the industry that built the community.

On a similar note, Stumptown Ales in downtown Davis also pays respect to the area’s timber industry history. Not to mention, Stumptown is an IPA-lovers dream: from easy drinking sessions to life-changing triple’s, you’re sure to find something to please your tastebuds.

Mountain State Brewing Company sits at over 3,000 ft in elevation atop a watershed, allowing beer to be brewed with the purest water possible. Attached to the brew house in Thomas is a tap room and music hall where seasonal kitchen offerings, brewery tours, live music and other events take place. 

Spending time on Snowshoe Mountain? Make sure to make time to visit the two-story indoor and outdoor Old Spruce Brewing, one of the largest brewpubs in Almost Heaven.

New River – Greenbrier Valley

Weathered Ground Brewery makes its small-batch farmhouse ales in its Cool Ridge barn, where rocking chairs serve as an invitation for visitors to sit a spell and enjoy a beer or two. 

Based in America’s Coolest Small Town, Fayetteville, Bridge Brew Works features locally brewed, creatively crafted beers sold by the bottle, pint or growler. Stop by their tasting room to try a flight of their latest brews or grab a pint of one of our classics.

For another unique brewing experience in Fayetteville, stop by The Freefolk Brewery, featuring unique artwork, a fun environment and exceptional beer. They draw inspiration from their Mountain State Roots with a wide variety of brews, ranging from Pale Ales to Stouts & everything in between.

In nearby Beckley, Dobra Zupas is a microbrewery with an interesting collection of beers to pair with its restaurant menu selections.

Greenbrier Valley Brewing Company’s beers are iconic, bearing the names and likenesses of some of West Virginia’s most famous residents, from Devil Anse Hatfield to Zona Heaster Shue (better known as the Greenbrier Ghost). This Maxwelton brewery also produces Mothman Black IPA, a medium-bodied black ale brewed with Pacific Northwest hops and English malts for just the right balance of bitter and toasty.

Downtown Princeton is home to Sophisticated Hound Brewing Company. Their microbrewery and tap room in the Grass Roots District features a selection of craft beer, signature sandwiches and personal pizzas.

Metro Valley

Since 2016 Bad Shepherd Beer Company has won many awards for its unique take on the craft beer scene. It is located adjacent to its sister business, Black Sheep Burrito & Brews in downtown Charleston.

At Huntington’s newest brewpub and arcade, The Peddler, you can try one of their creative burgers paired with one of the unique craft brews they have on tap.

Mid-Ohio Valley

The North End Tavern & Brewery (aka “the N.E.T.) offers many styles of locally brewed, craft beer and serves American pub-style fare as well as traditional German dishes. It is known for its award-winning Amber Ale, Roedy’s Red and its legendary NET Burger. Established in 1899, the N.E.T. first opened its doors as a small neighborhood pub in Parkersburg’s North End.
