Wild, Wonderful West Virginia Celebrates West Virginia Day Across the Mountain State

Events include the release of a new shirt, launch of the new MyWV video series and giveaway at Morgantown Black Bears baseball game.

CHARLESTON, West Virginia (June 20, 2016) – Wild, Wonderful West Virginia today celebrates the Mountain State’s 153rd birthday with the release of the new #MyWV video series, West Virginia Day shirt, various events around the state and the first pitch at the Morgantown Black Bears game.

“Wild, Wonderful West Virginia is proud to celebrate the Mountain State’s 153rd birthday and encourage locals and visitor to join us during today’s celebrations,” Commissioner of Tourism Amy Shuler Goodwin said. “Whether you join me at the ball game in Morgantown or attend one of the many other festivities around the state, be sure to share your West Virginia Day memories using #GoToWV and #MyWV for a chance to win one of our new shirts!”

Wild, Wonderful West Virginia today unveiled their new limited edition West Virginia Day shirt, featuring a heart inside the West Virginia state outline. The shirt was designed by Will Deskins, a WVU Graphic Design graduate and two time WVU Art Scholar, who was born and raised in the New River Gorge area. Sustain U Clothing, a small local business in Morgantown printed the shirt.

The shirt was released with the new “My WV” video series on the Wild, Wonderful West Virginia Facebook. West Virginians are encouraged to share their adventures, favorite dishes and places by tagging their photos, videos and posts with #GoToWV and #MyWV. Entries will be entered for a chance to win one of the new West Virginia Day shirts. Videos in the series will be uploaded to GoToWV.com/mywv.

Attendees will have a chance to win one of the new shirts at today’s Morgantown Black Bear’s game, where Commissioner Goodwin will be throwing the opening pitch at 7:05 pm. The Commissioner will host media availability from 6:00 pm to 7:30 p.m. in the General Admission area of the stadium (Contact: 304-549-2814).

Travelers are encouraged to stop for entertainment, refreshments, giveaways and more at the eight Wild, Wonderful West Virginia Welcome Centers. Food, giveaways, live music, re-enactments, kid’s activities and more will be just part of the day’s festivities. Travelers are encouraged to take photos and share them on social media using #GoToWV.
