Governor Tomblin Proclaims July 13-19, 2015 West Virginia Restaurant Week, Which Coincides With Launch of “101 Unique Places To Dine” Guide

CHARLESTON, West Virginia (July 1, 2015) – Governor Earl Ray Tomblin proclaimed July 13 – 19, 2015 as West Virginia Restaurant Week in the Mountain State, which coincides with the launch of the “101 Places to Dine” guide.  Wild, Wonderful West Virginia encourages local restaurants to participate in the celebration of the state’s culinary heritage.

“Restaurants across the Mountain State offer unique dining experiences to both residents and visitors alike that truly capture the flavor of Real. West Virginia,” Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin said. “Whether you enjoy farm-to-table eating, upscale cuisine or the variety options in between, there are endless opportunities to enjoy a delicious meal with family and friends. Restaurant Week is the perfect week to showcase our state’s robust traditional flavors, and I encourage everyone to take time to experience Real. Mountain State cuisine.”

“West Virginia Restaurant Week provides a unique opportunity to show support for local food establishments throughout the state,” Commissioner of Tourism Amy Shuler Goodwin said. “Coupled with the launch of the new edition of our popular ‘101 Unique Places to Dine’ guide, this presents folks with a wonderful opportunity to experience Real. Mountain Flavor.”

All locally owned restaurants are invited to participate in West Virginia Restaurant Week by submitting a special or specials here: GoToWV.com/events/wv-restaurant-week/submit.  In  order to be listed as an official West Virginia Restaurant Week participant, restaurants must commit to running the selected special(s) July 13-19— the entirety of West Virginia Restaurant Week.

Suggested specials for participating restaurants include:

  • 2-course meal for 2 priced at $15, $20, or $25*
  • A shared appetizer/dessert + a meal selected by the restaurant. This could extend to the full-menu, or be limited to a select few dishes or a special just for the event.
  • Specialty drinks
  • Create-your-own special!

West Virginia Restaurant Week coincides with the launch of the “101 Unique Places to Dine in West Virginia” which will take place July 13.  Restaurants included in the “101” guide will receive priority placement on the specials listing site, as well as being featured in ads and content for the event.  Select “101” restaurants throughout the state will also serve as sites for official West Virginia Restaurant Week launch events.

*The price point is at the discretion of the restaurant; however, pricing at a multiple of 5 is encouraged.
