Wild, Wonderful West Virginia To ‘Canstruct’ Whitewater Rafter, New River Gorge Bridge For 10th Annual ‘Canstruction’ Contest

Annual competition takes place April 2 at the Clay Center for the Arts and Sciences

CHARLESTON, West Virginia (March 29, 2016) – The GoToWV team invites the public to watch the “canstruction” of their West Virginia-themed entry–which will feature a whitewater rafter and the New River Gorge Bridge–in the 10th annual Canstruction contest .  The build will take place April 2 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Clay Center for the Arts and Sciences, during which the public can vote for their favorites.  Following the awards presentation, all cans used in the competition will be donated to the Covenant House food pantry.

“We’re very excited to promote travel and tourism in Wild, Wonderful West Virginia while also supporting our communities,” Commissioner of Tourism Amy Shuler Goodwin said. “Thank you to our partners–ACE Adventure Resort, River Expeditions, Adventures on the Gorge, James Cope, and the Canstruction Team–who have helped to make this project a tremendous success.”

Last year the GoToWV team’s Braxton County Monster Canstruction won the Best Meal Award, which is presented to the team  whose canned food selection can be used to build a whole meal.
