North Bend State Park
Named for the horseshoe curve of the North Fork of the Hughes River, North Bend State Park in nearby Cairo and Harrisville, West Virginia, offers a multitude of outdoor recreational facilities in a beautiful rural setting. The fishing streams, hiking trails, abundant wildlife and excellent overnight accommodations (lodge and cabins) and an on-site restaurant are among this year-round park's most popular features. Two campgrounds provide variety is campground settings. North Bend features the 72 mile North Bend Rail Trail, which is designed for hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding. The rail trail runs along the old B & O Railroad bed from Parkersburg, WV to Wolf Summit, near Clarksburg, WV. North Bend has a 305-acre recreational lake. A boat ramp, handicapped accessible fishing pier, and other fishing access points. The lake is a mecca for red-headed woodpecker habitat. Kayaking and canoeing are popular activities. The park is also know for great hospitality extended to family gatherings, business travelers and group/meetings.
