Brewing up in 2016: 10 new breweries & events to try

West Virginia’s craft beer business is booming! Here are 7 new breweries and 3 new events to watch for this summer.

1. Town Run Brewing Company

Shepherdstown

Town Run is already well known for its farm-to-table comfort cuisine. The owners plan to have 25 different draft beers of their own, in a wide variety of styles. Until then, you can find West Virginia beers and other craft specialties in rotation on tap.

2. Mash Brewing Company

Charles Town

Mash Brewing Company in Charles Town’s historic downtown district will have a variety of popular American craft beer styles, IPAs and Belgian-inspired brews. As a unique twist, the owner plans to brew beers infused with locally grown produce.

3. Front Porch Brewing Company

Charles Town

The owners of Charles Town’s second soon-to-be brewing company promise a beer selection with lots of character, and lots of hops. Renovation is underway on the historic downtown building where this cozy little brewpub plans to open this summer.

4. The Peddler Restaurant & Brewery

Huntington

Brought to you by the owners of Backyard Pizza and Raw Bar, The Peddler Restaurant and Brewery’s 10-barrel system will supply both restaurants and put a small amount in local distribution. The Peddler’s gourmet burger menu is designed to complement a variety of beer styles.

5. Moss Farms Winery

Wheeling

Moss Farms Winery expanded their business to create an in-house wine tasting room with beautiful, panoramic mountain views. The winery produces a variety of wines including seasonal fruit wines, the vintner’s specialty.

6. Parkersburg Brewing Company

Parkersburg

Parkersburg Brewing Company will join the North End Tavern & Brewery on Parkersburg’s craft brew scene. It will have 6 flagships: an IPA, black IPA, pale ale, hefeweizen, oatmeal stout and brown ale, as well as a sour series and regular seasonal/specialty beers. A light pub menu will keep the focus on brewing and beer quality.

7. Brew Keepers

Wheeling

“Simple. Craft Beer.” is the motto for the nano-brewery coming to Wheeling’s historic Market District, bringing along a range of basic American and European styles. That will mean 2 brewing companies in this Northern Panhandle city— actually, the 2 in the same district! Paired up with Wheeling Brewing Company, it’ll be top-notch mini-pub crawl!
